Hailing from Christchurch (New Zealand), now Melbourne-based DJ, FLOAT is known for his eclectic selection of music in genres ranging from 70s Funk & Soul to Hip Hop to Electronic & Bass Music.

FLOAT was a member of the Christchurch DJ team FUTUREBEAT (futurebeat.co.nz) and has collaborated with Auckland based hip-hop MC/DJ duo Prophet & Guillotine as well as Melbourne Hip-Hop extraordinaire THANKS.

Prior to the natural disaster (and the subsequent destruction of the club scene) FLOAT was a resident at several Christchurch nightclubs including: Double Happy, Minx Cocktail Bar and Graffiti White along with regular spots at Concrete Club such as the CASPA (UK) after-party where FLOAT & THANKS kept the packed-crowd heaving until the early hours.

FLOAT also had a Saturday night radio spot on RDU 98.5FM, along side Insomniac and Soul Trader, playing up-tempo bass music to listeners preparing for their Saturday night-out.

More recently FLOAT has been showing his support for his earthquake stricken hometown with the release of several recorded mixes including You may take my city, but you will never take my funk and 2-part mix Rest in Poplar (collaboration with girlfriend DJ, HANSDOWN) available on soundcloud.

Here is our first collaborative mix, made for you to sample our sound. 60 minutes of bass-filled beats. The first 20 mins showcases some glitchy hip-hop gold from Thanks, followed by another 20 mins of wonky heaviness from Float, finished with 20 mins of dubstep bangers from Andy Humm.

Why not, it’s free.

Thanks, Float, Andy Humm - Futurebeat 60min Promo
